“Of the roads you travel, some of them must be dirt”. Stellenbosch scenic horse riding offers you the opportunity to ride along scenic dirt roads, through farms bordering a wildlife sanctuary. You might find yourself lucky to come across Giraffe, Elands, Bontebok, Bush Pig and Duiker.


The Restaurant offers a variety of meals to choose from as well as a craft beer brewery for those interested in craft beer tasting.

Cape Adventure Zone offers a selection of scenic outrides and horseback trails in and around the Cape Winelands ranging from one to three hour rides. The Outrides on Horseback are suitable for beginners to intermediate riders of all ages. Enjoy the wonderful scenery and nature, away from the crowds and discover the breath-taking mountain ranges of the Cape on horseback.

Activity Details

Trails from 30 min - 1.5 hours
Daily departures, not available on Mondays
Self-drive, transfers can be arranged at an additional cost
All riding equipment provided
No experience required, we cater for novice to intermediate riders
Rates for kids:
30 Min trail ride (kids 5-6 years) at R260 per child
1 Hour trail ride (kids 7 years or older) at R380 per child
1 Hour scenic outride at R380 per person
1.5 Hour scenic outride at R520 per person

Notes and Requirements:

Only one rider per horse

Note that we have a maximum weight limit of 95kg’s (can be slightly more depending on the outride, please enquire)

All rates include a knowledgeable and experienced guide, no rides are permitted to go without a guide

Minimum age 8 years (can be less depending on the outride, please enquire)

Parent or legal guardian must sign indemnity for anyone under 18 years of age

Riding hats are supplied and are compulsory but if you have your own, please bring it along

The guides will set the pace according to the ability of the slowest or inexperienced rider in the group

Should all riders in the group be experienced the guides will allow trotting and cantering

Riders are not allowed to overtake the guide at any stage during the outride

Moms to be: We apologize, outrides are not for you while you are pregnant

Basic Rider Guideline:

We will require your riding experience to pair you with a suitable horse, a basic guideline:

Complete novice rider – never been on a horse before

Novice rider – less than 20 times

Intermediate rider – less than 100 times

Experienced rider – competent rider, comfortable at all paces,owned and ridden own horse, have been riding often lately
