Cederberg Overnight Hiking Trail

Cape Adventure Zone offers an Overnight Cederberg Hiking Trail in the Cederberg Wilderness, named after the rare Clanwilliam Cedar tree. This area is renowned for its spectacular landscapes, rock formations and Khoi-San rock paintings.


This still almost undiscovered wilderness area offers the adventure traveller a chance to escape from the frantic pace of the city to a place of wide open escarpments, majestic mountains and beautiful skies. A place to soothe the soul.

Day 1: Cape Town – Cederberg

We head off early from Cape Town passing through small farming communities such as Malmesbury, Piketberg and Citrusdal, towards the Oliphants River Valley. After a light lunch en-route we veer onto a dirt road that takes us to the Cederberg towards the historical Koi-San paintings and view the majestic rock formations at the Stadsaal Caves. Once we reach our overnight accommodation you have the opportunity explore the surrounds around camp and relax while the guide prepares a traditional South African braai on an open fire under an exquisite night sky.

Day 2: Cederberg – Cape Town

Early morning start heading off to the Wolfberg Cracks, a mountain walk with some scrambling at the top (Maltese cross hike - depending on path being open). This is an incredible experience slipping though the Cederberg’s priceless gems. Once we reach the top we stop for lunch and enjoy the view. Upon arrival back at camp we pack up and make our way back to Cape Town.
