No specialised clothing or equipment is required in order enjoy this sport, unlike snowboarding, however it is very similar and you can reach high speed to enable you to do a variety of tricks.
Ultimate 4x4 Sandboarding – 4x4 drive in and out the dunes, some safety & training then 4x4 lift to the top of the dunes, you sandboarding down and get driven back up, duration 2 hours.
About the area and surroundings:
Sandboarding in Atlantis is only 43km from Cape Town CBD or 50 minutes drive from Cape Town CBD, it is situated on the West Coast of South Africa. The area is well known for its white powder like sand and also known as a huge sandpit. The area is close to Bloubergstrand and Melkbosstrand.
Melkbosstrand has a beautiful 7 km stretch of white sandy beach and is very popular with surfers, the town is situated on the Atlantic coast with the Blouberg mountain on the east. Bloubergstrand means “blue mountain beach” in Afrikaans. It is also popular with tourist and has a beautiful view of Table Mountain across the bay. Robben Island is 6.9km west of the coast of Blaubergstrand. Big Bay is located on the west side of Bloubergstrand, the area is famous for the 1-3m surf due to the winds all year round. The sea water is cold because of the Benguela current along the west coast of South Africa.
