Crystal Pools Hike

The guided Crystal Pools Hike is a combination of hiking/kloofing into the fynbos-laden mountains of the Kogelberg Biosphere, following the Palmiet River from it’s mouth, up into the rocky Steenbras River Gorge and swimming in deep, cold, natural, amber colored rock pools fed by waterfalls. The origin of the river is in the Hottentots Holland Mountains.

The hike leads to a series of five deep, natural rock pools. The pools are magnificent, perfect to cool down in en route with some very impressive jumps from the cliffs into some of the pools if you are brave.

The Crystal Pools hike is an exiting, refreshing, nature induced hiking adventure with beautiful scenery, birdlife and indigenous fynbos. The Kogelberg Biosphere is one of the riches areas of fynbos in the Western Cape, home to one of the world’s six Floral Kingdoms.
